April 27, 2015—Diners are increasingly looking for menu alternatives. According to Technomic’s 2015 Center of the Plate: Poultry Consumer Trend Report, 61% agree that turkey (vs. only 59% for chicken) is healthier than beef or pork. In addition, more consumers prefer to order turkey-based substitutes such as turkey burgers and turkey bacon for breakfast, lunch and dinner, as these products tend to be more familiar to diners than chicken-based substitutes.1
